About Karsyn

The Beginning

Born March 4, 1999, Chicago native Karsyn Renae Terry began playing pool at the early age of 8 at the Boys and Girls Club summer camp in Kirkland, WA. Although at that time her main focus was soccer, Karsyn was drawn to pocketing the colorful spheres on the 9 foot table. Each day after summer camp's core activities were completed, Karsyn would shoot pool until it was time to go home. In 2007, without any proper training, Karsyn took 1st place, as well as received the MVP award, in the Marion Stamps Youth Center Intramural 8 Ball pool tournament.

The Present

Karsyn recently competed in the 2012 24th Annual BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships in the "Girls 14 and Under" division taking 2nd place. In the double-elimination event, Karsyn lost once while in the winners bracket and then fought her way through what was left of the one-loss side to land in the finals and face last year's 2nd place winner; April Larson. In a very tough match, Karsyn fell to April; 9 games to 2, but secured 2nd place in the United States' most prestigious junior billiards event. Securing 2nd place was a huge leap for Karsyn who took 5th place in last year's 2011 BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships. In the 24 years that the BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships have existed, there has never been an African-American, boy or girl, who has played in the finals. Karsyn essentially made history.

The Future

Karsyn's main priority is to continue to maintain a 3.7+ GPA. Next, she will continue to improve all aspects of her 9 Ball game while also becoming more proficient in other disciplines such as 8 Ball and 10 Ball. Karsyn knows that if she properly focuses on these specific tasks, everything else will fall into place.
